WHAT IS AN EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM?
An Executive MBA Program focuses on mid- to senior-level managers and professionals who are looking to broaden their knowledge base.  The program is lock-step, in that students begin and attend all classes together.  Taught in a boardroom-style approach, participation facilitates rich discussion.  The University of Alabama offers the Executive MBA Program in two locations: Tuscaloosa and Huntsville.

Cost includes

Tuition, fees, faculty, some reading materials, Blackboard Portal access, refreshment breaks & lunch, orientation & international immersion session (textbooks and international trip airfare and some meals are not included)

Lodging: The University of Alabama Executive MBA Program arranges a block of rooms for students in Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Students requesting lodging will be responsible for payment directly to the hotel. A block of rooms are held at the following hotels:

Tuscaloosa: Hotel Capstone, located adjacent to the Bryant Conference Center

Huntsville: Hilton Garden Inn Huntsville near the US Space and Rocket Center

The Huntsville EMBA (HEMBA) Program is a University of Alabama degree offered in cooperation with The University of Alabama-Huntsville.

WHO ARE YOUR STUDENTS?
Our students are professionals with a record of achievement and demonstrated leadership ability. The program draws students with a range of cultural, personal and professional backgrounds. Student backgrounds include financial, health care, law, technology, manufacturing, defense, sales, marketing, and engineering.  The average work experience is 15 years.

WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?
The Tuscaloosa EMBA Program classes are held at the Bryant Conference Center at The University of Alabama.   The Huntsville EMBA Program classes are held at the College of Business Administration Building at UAHuntsville.  All EMBA students have easy access to a wide array of student services including career services, library resources, technical support plus many other cultural and academic resources of the university.

WHAT DEGREE DOES THE STUDENT EARN?
The University of Alabama awards the same M.B.A. degree as the traditional full-time program, with very similar rigorous curriculum, and taught by the same world-class faculty. The degree is a University of Alabama M.B.A. degree.

HOW IS THE EMBA DEGREE DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR MBA?
It is a general management degree designed for executives only.  This lock-step program is taught in an accelerated pace.  The full-time M.B.A. degree offered by The University of Alabama is a two-year program that allows each student to specialize in one topic.  The full-time M.B.A. program does not include an international study trip at this time.

HOW DO I VISIT A CLASS?

IS FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE? DO YOU OFFER ANY SCHOLARSHIPS?
Financial aid is available through federal and private educational loans. For more information on financial aid, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid at 205/348-6756 or http://financialaid.ua.edu. For assistance with military service benefits, call 205.348.0983. The EMBA office offers some scholarships.  For the Mitchell Scholarship, you must score either a 600 on the GMAT or 309 on the GRE and show financial need. For more information on the Mitchell or other scholarships, contact the EMBA office, 205.348.4501.

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL IMMERSION SESSION?
This session integrates many of the concepts participants have studied across a wide range of disciplines; providing a comprehensive understanding of economic, political and cultural issues in a particular country. Each course consists of a week long trip abroad. The seminar includes company visits and meetings with local business leaders and government officials.  Destination for EMBA Class of 2017 is Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and Singapore.

DO YOU ACCEPT TRANSFER CREDITS?
The Culverhouse College of Commerce Executive MBA Program generally does not accept transfer credits.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE GMAT OR GRE BEFORE I APPLY?
The GMAT or GRE exam is no longer required for EMBA applicants who meet specific criteria established by the Manderson Graduate School of Business. To qualify for this exemption, an applicant must have strong work experience (at least five years) and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better OR have already earned another master’s degree. Please contact the EMBA office for additional information on this policy.

For EMBA applicants with a GPA below 3.0, EMBA requires a 500 on the GMAT or 300 on the GRE. Please request that official scores be sent to The University of Alabama. Our GRE institution code is 1830.
